Public Engagement & Outreach
I have a strong commitment to engaging with the general public and promoting awareness of data science and AI across all demographic groups. I have spoken at events for audiences ranging from young children to the elderly, from policy professionals to local community groups.
Databeers Exeter
I am the founder and co-organiser of Databeers Exeter, a series of informal public events bringing together people from all walks of life to share data-driven stories and engage with the people behind the data. These events are free, open to all, and designed to make data science accessible and enjoyable.

Museum Partnerships
I have an ongoing collaboration with the Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) in Exeter, using data science to help the museum better understand and predict visitor numbers. One of my PhD students showcased their urban analytics work during the Are We There Yet? transport exhibition, attended by over 20,000 visitors.
Community Research
Thanks to funding from the Engaged & Participatory Research Funding Scheme, I have organised events in partnership with Exeter Science Centre to both discuss my research with the public and invite the community to help shape my future research agenda. A particular highlight has been working with a community of people with physical and mental disabilities — a group often overlooked in transport-related research — to understand their experiences and priorities.
Schools & Young People
I regularly engage with schools and colleges, giving talks on data science, AI, and careers in research. I have supervised A-level students through research placements and supported undergraduate projects at local sixth form and secondary schools.
